To the Honourable Robert C. Winthrop Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
Your petitioners, (being citizens of the counties of Boon Fayette & Kanawha) humbly represent that they be live in a section of country remote from any Post Office or mail route and that they suffer great inconvenience in consequence of the delay experienced in the reception of communications through the Post Office.
They represent that the nearest Post Office to which they have access is that of Cole River Marshes on the one hand and Lens Creek on the other; and these two Offices are seperated by a distance of about Sixty five miles. The Whole Country between these offices is densely populated and in which a large amount of business of various kinds is transacted and particularly at the points most remote from either of the offices.
Most of your petitioners when they have communications1 of importance to send or receive through the Post Office are compeled to ride from twenty to thirty miles for want of proper mail facilities which is to them a Source not only of great inconvenience but also of considerable expence
Your petitioners therefore in order to remedy this inconvenience under which they labour pray the passage of a law establishing
