To the honourable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of
America, in Congress assembled:
The petition of the Subscribers, Citizens of the County of Armstrong, in the State
of Pennsylvania, respectfully Sheweth:
That your petitioners labour under great inconveniences, for want of a Mail-route,
leading from Kittanning, in Armstrong County, by way of Cochran’s Mill, to Apollo,
in the aforesaid County, (a distance of about twenty-four miles) and for want of a
Post-Office, at Cochran’s Mill, (to be called Cochran’s Mill Post Office.) Your petitioners
would further respectfully Show; that the Country, through which Said Mail-route would
pass, is thickly Settled, and that the nearest Post Office is about eight miles from
Cochran’s-Mill, and that a proposition has been made to carry the Mail over Said route,
for the revenue arising therefrom. Your petitioners therefore respectfully pray your
honourable body, to pass a law, establishing Said Mail-route and Post office, and
your petitioners as in duty bound will pray &c.
