To the Hon. the Senate and House of Representatives of the U.S.A. Thirtieth Congress second session,
The undersigned inhabitants of the State of Maine respectfully represent, that a Post Road and P. Offices on the following route would be of great public utility, To wit, From Exeter (corner, thence on the avenue (so called) via. of West Garland, North part of Dexter. Sangerville and Guilford (villages) to Abbot, (Distance 21 miles) One new P. Office at Hesseltines Corner (so called) in Dexter, to be called North Dexter, (being also on the P. Road leading from Dex[ter?] Village ^to Dover village^ 4 miles from the former & 8 miles from the latter) an[d?] one other P. Office at Gilman’s Corner in Sangerville called South Sangerville. Transportation of the mail as follows, unless otherwise ordered by authority. Leave Exeter every Monday Wednesday & Friday on arrival of the Bangor, Garland and Monson Stage (being the mail route established last session) and arrive at Abbot in time to connect with the Waterville, Dexter & Monson (0r Moosehead) Stage, same days Leave Abbot every Tuesday Thursday & Saturday at 5, O’clock, ^A.M.^ or such other time as the P M Gen. may direct, and arrive at Exeter in time to connect with the Stage first mentioned, same days.
And we hereby Solicit your early attention and favorable action on the premises. And as bound will ever pray. Hon. Mr. Hamlin of the Senate and Hon. Mr Wiley of the House may be consulted, Mr Wiley having a Plan of the route.
