To the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States
Your petitioners resident citizens of that portion of the State of Michigan upon and
contiguous to, the route hereinafter set forth and which your petitioners pray may
be established as a mail route, do respectfully pray: that a mail route may be established
for a weekly transportation of the mail by Horse back or otherwise, as follows: From
Grand Rapids via Alpine and Sparta ^Summersville^ Post Offices all in the County of Kent, to Muskegon Mills P Office in the County
of Newago, thence via Newago P Office in said Newago County and Muskegon dam (so
called) to Muskegon Post Office in Ottawa County, and your petitioners will ever pray.
