Petition for Mail Rout[e?] from Ottawa via Sycamore & Geneva to Belvidere
To the Hon the Post Master Genl
Your Petitioners respectfully represent—that no direct route exists from the two points of the proposed route—That Sycamore is the County Seat of DeKalb County & that considerable business from Ottawa and Belvidere is done in Sycamore That there is a Road laid out from Belvidere direct to Ottawa through the points named—That the inhabitants of Genoa—Sycamore—Squaw Grove & Samonac are only supplied by a cross mail—That the proposed route will pay for itself & that no other route can That the route applied for through Ross Grove—Shawberry’s Grove Huntley’s Grove Brush Point & Kingston passes through a thinly settled portion of the County—& where no Road has been laid out or can be—

They therefore pray that this Route may be refused & the Route proposed by your Petitioners adopted
