To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives in Congress
We the undersigned Citizen of the Southern part of the Counties of Mercer and Auglaize Ohio would respectfully
pray your honorable Body for the Establishment of a Cross Mail from Fort Recovery
in Mercer County through the Towns of St Henry and St. Johns to Minster in auglaize
County intersecting the Riqua and Fort Wayne Mail of Minster, and the Mail from greenville
in Dark County North through Recovery Montezuma Celina & to van Wert. The length of
Service for this route would be twenty two miles running through the most wealthy
and tickest Part Setled Part of the Countys Who have no means of obtaining mail matters without a great inconvinniance having now to travel a Distance from Six to Eight miles to reach an office. And it
is believed that the income from Such a route would be as great if not greater in
Proportion to Distance and Amount of Service to the most Mail Routes in this Section of the Country and the Establishment of Such a route
would be of great convinniance and add much interest of those Residing on or near Said route as well as the Public
generally and your petitioners would further Pray that Henry Beckman may be appointed Deputy for the office at St. Henry and Mathias gast for the office
at St Johns and that the Mail be carried as follows Leave Minster on Monday at Say
Eight oclock A.M. and return next Day or Leave Recovery on Monday at Eight A. M.
and return next Day for which your Petitioners humble Pray.
