To the Honorable The Postmaster General of the U.S.A.
The petition of the undersigned citizens of the counties1 of Schuyler and ^Fulton in^ State of Illinois respectfully represent that there is a flourishing and populous district of country in the aforesaid Counties2 lying in the vicinity of the Illinois river between Frederickville in the County of Schuyler and Astoria in the adjoining County of Fulton, being a distance of about twenty miles, which is totally deprived of the benefits of the Post routes of said Counties. They therefore pray your honor that a post route may be established between the aforesaid points and that two Offices may be established on said route one at a place on the Illinois river called Browning and the other at Sheldons Grove about six mileles distant from Astoria. They would respectfully reccommend that Daniel Sheldon be appointed Postmaster for Sheldons Grove and ^James ^H^ Austain^ for the office at Browning As in duty bound will ever pray &c
