To the Hon. Senate & House of Representatives of the United States
We the undersigned Citizens of Cape May County New Jersey, residing along the sea
Coast Road, and between Tuckahoe and said road, and Cape May [Court?] House, most respectfully ask Congress to make the coast road, from Tuckahoe by Little[worth?] amos C[orson?] and Jn[o?] Smiths to said Court House a distance of about 18 miles a Post route. We Wish post
offices established and a mail carried in said route, because many of us who need
mail facilities, on account of our interest in the coasting trade and other branches
of business, reside from 5 to 7 miles from the nearest Post office. We hope therefore,
that Congress will give this Petition a favourable consideration and establish the
said Post route
