To the Congress of the United States.
We the undersigned, citizens of the Parish of Claiborne and state of Louiziana, would
humbly represent, that, that part of the Parish bordering on the line, between this

the Citizens of the State of Arkansas in petitioning your honorable body to grant
us a mail rout, to run from El. Dorado, Union Co. Arks, via Harpers, Foster’s store, and Dyer’s, to Athens, the seat of justice of Claiborne
Parish, La, a distance of fifty four miles, establishing post offices at Harper’s,
Foster’s and Dyer’s.
We would further represent that all papers & letters form Little Rock, Ark, Camden,
& Champagnolle reach us after making a circuitous rout of two hundred miles, via Washington
& Meriden.
We your petitioners, as in duty bound will ever pray &c &c.
