To the Honerable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States
Your Petitioners would Respectfuly represent that the convenience of the Public would be much promoted by a daily Mail between Ithaca in Tompkins County and Bath in Steuben Co in the State of new York passing through Trumans Mills Cayutaville in Tompkins Co Odessa Havana and Townsends Settlement in Chemung Co and Monteray in Steuben Co
The above named vilages are rapidly increaseing in population and wealth and already a vast amount of buisness is daily transacted in them and the Community Suffer great inconveinence from the Sparsness and unfrequency of the Mails
Your Petitioners would further represent the route above designated is decidedly the most level direct and Shortest being about 50 miles that can be found between the above named places and that the roads are in a Sufficient improved State for the Transmision of the mails in Post Coaches
and also that a daily mail in Stages would not only increas buisness facilities but greatly add to the revenue of the Post Office Department
We therefore pray that Congress will pass a Law authorizeing the above named route as it is demanded by the intrest of this Community and the People generally
