To the Post Master General of the united States.
The undersigned citizens of Nelson County Virginia ^(Tye River Mills & Fentwood ^Roseland^ post offices)^ Petitioners. state. that: The Northern & Eastern mails leave charlottsville Va on Monday, Wednesday & friday mornings & reach Lovingston Va the same days respectively, two of which days each weak, it is met ^at Lovingston Va^ by a cross mail from Tye River Mills & Fentwood ^Roseland^ Post offices, thereby bringing us the mails to both of said offices the same day that it reaches Lovingston. Hence, as far as the reception of our mail matter by said routes satisfies us we cannot ask more. But your Petisioners, can, by the establishment of a new route, herein to be designated, be infinitely benefitted. To wit. A route from Brooksville, in the county of albemarle, to Rose Mills in the county of Amherst, including in its route the Greenfield, Tye River mills, & Fentwood ^Roseland^ post offices, estarting from each terminus twice in every week. By which arrangement our mails would pass charlotsville & stop at Brooksville & reach the other terminus (Rose Mills) the same day, crossing the mail at the intermediate offices above mentioned vis. Greenfield, Tye River Mills, & Roseland. The advantage over ^of^ the proposed route over the present one, is: first that, we would connect immediately with the great western mail (at Brooksvilles) secondly, we would connect with a dialy line, instead of as now, a tri-weekly line.
If the proposed route is established—the present one from Tye River Mills & Roseland to Lovingston going twice ^a week^ could be abolished. This arrangement as proposed would infinitly benefit your Petitioners and injure no others
