To the Honerable, the Senate & House of Representatives of the United States of America
in Congress assembled,
Your Petitioners, citizens of the counties of Fulton Mason ^Menard^ & Sangamon, in the state of Illinois. respectfully represent. That at Present, your
petitioners mostly inhabitants of that section of county lying between Canton in the
county of Fulton & Springfield in the county of Sangamon, are deprived of the benefits
of mail fecilities, especially those of us who are inhabitance of Liverpool on the
Illinois River in the county of Fulton & those who reside between Leverpool & Athens
in the county of Sangamon, it being from ten to fifteen miles to the nearest Post
Office, your petitioners would further represent that all the section of contry for
a distance of about Eighty miles is already thickly settled, & towns of some importance
on the route from Canton to Springfield. That there is a State Road Laid from Springfield
the Capitol[...?] of the State to Canton aforesaid. Your petitioners therefore pray your honorable
body, to Establish a Mail rout, Commencing at Springfield in the county of Sangamon,
through Athens ^New market^ Walkers Grove, Quiver, & Liverpool, to Canton, & that post Offices may be Established
at Liverpool, Quiver, & Walkers Grove & such other places on the rout as shall be
necessary & proper
