Hon. I. E MossDear Sir
I have bin requested by many individuals to write to you repecting a mail rout from Fort Jessup to Burrs ferry on the Sabine riverWe have bin petitioning for the rout for the last seven years and have failed to get it and unless we can get our representative in congress to intercede in our behalf we must despair of ever getting itThe petitions have generally bin sent to our representative in Congress for him to attempt to and as we have so often failed the people begin to blame you for it and as an evidence of the fact your opponent received a majority of Ten votes in this Parish when thire is a majority of 75 in favor of the DemocratsBut be the fault where it may we want the mail rout and dispair of any other chance to get it but through you and be assured it is a rout of great utility and much needed by a thickly setled country
The same route rout was once advertised but never put in operationit was set down in the advertisement as 25 miles when the real distance was fifty milesThe rout would now answer a better purpose to comence at Many or Negreet either would shorten the distace five miles and would pass more directly through the thickest settlementsI will be happy to give you any further information on the subject that you may wishPlease inform me what can be done in the matter as soon as possible
I am yoursJohn D TuckerHon I. E. Moss
