To the Honorable the Sennate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress Assembled,
The petition of the Scrubscribers, Citizens of the County of Lancaster in the State of Pennsylvania respectfully represents.
That your petitioners labor under great inconvenience from the want of facilities of direct communication, between the Gap post Office and the Village of Ephrata, both points being in the County of Lancaster aforesaid the distance is about 15 miles through a fertile densly populated and highly cultivated portion of the county including Merchant Mills, Stores, Forges, Factories, &c and Embracing an amount of business that requires Extensive mail facilitiesYour petitioners would thare fore pray your Honorable bodies to Establish a new post route from the Gap post office to the Village of Ephrata passing by the post offices of Hat Intercourse, New, Holland and Hinkletown, and your petitioners as in duty bound will Ever prey.
