To the Honerable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress
assembled,
The undersigned Citizens of Ypsilanti in the State of Michigan, humbly pray your Honorable
body to provide by law for the reduction of letter postage to a rate, to be prepaid,
that shall not Exceed three cents a half ounce or under for any distance not over
one thousand miles and five cents a half ounce over that distance; And that provision
by law be also made for the free Transportation of Newspapers to any Post office in
the State in which said Newspaper may be published; & at the rate that not to Exceed one quarter of a cent an Ounce to any Post Office without the state.
and your petitions as in duty bound will Ever pray
