[ny?]
The undersigned Merchants and Traders of the city of Baltimore, beg most respectfully
to call your attention to the very serious inconvenience which will arise to business
generally from the mode of transmission of the Eastern Mail just announced as the
Winter Arrangement: by which the mail leaving New York at 4 ¾ o’clock, P. M., arriving
in Philadelphia about 9 P.M. and in this city heretofore about 5 A. M., will not arrive
here according to the new management until two to three o’clock P. M. and be ready
for delivery about one hour thereafter, too late for the transaction of business—thus
causing the loss of an entire day.
This delay is not only prejudicial to the commercial interests of Baltimore but must
necessarily be [?] to all the mercantile com. . .uth of this city
[?] undersigned trust therefore that this subject will meet your favorable consideration,
and your Memorialists will ever pray, &c. &c.
