To the Honourable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States, in Congress assembled.
The Petition of the Subscribers, Inhabitants of the Town of Tremont, in the County of Schuylkill and State of Pennsylvania, respectfully represent
That the Town of Tremont is situate twelve miles west of the Borough of Pottsville, the principal Post Town in the County of Schuylkill
That there are upwards of seven hundred inhabitants in the said Town.
That the nearest Post Office is at the village of Donaldson, one and three quarter miles distant
That there is now, and has been for a year past, a daily stage coach running from Pottsville to Tremont, and that application was made to the Post Office Department for a Post office to be established at Tremont, which was denied because there was no mail route established by Law.
Your Petitioners therefore respectfully pray your Honourable bodies to establish a mail route Between the Borough of Pottsville in the County of Schuylkill and State of Pennsylvania, passing through the Town of Llewellyn1, to the Town of Tremont in the County and State aforesaid.
