We have the honor to send you hereon copies of Resolutions, passed by the Senate and
the House of Assembly of this State, relative to the Post Office Laws of the United
States.

Resolved, (if the Senate concur,) That so much of an act of Congress, passed at its last session
as enlarges the franking privilege of Members of Congress, imposes postage on newspapers
not conveyed by mail more than thirty miles from the place where they are printed,
increases the postage on newspapers not sent from the office of publication, and requires
it to be pre-paid, was not demanded by the public interest, is impolitic, unjust and
oppressive, and ought to be repealed.
Resolved, (if the Senate concur,) That the Senators in Congress from this State be instructed,
and that the Representatives in Congress from this State be requested, to use their
best efforts to procure a repeal at as early a day as practicable, in the present
session of Congress, of so much of the act referred to as is specified in the foregoing
resolution.
Resolved, (if the Senate concur,) That the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the
Assembly, be requested to transmit a copy of the foregoing resolutions to each of
the said Senators and Representatives.
