The undersigned, believing the transportation of the mail, and the delivery of letters &c. on the first day of the week to be a violation of the Christian Sabbath; Opposed to the rights of a numerous class of Citizens who conscientiously observe that day; injurious in its effects on public morals; and unsupported by any plea of necessity or convenience, while it gives offence to the feelings of the Christian Community, hereby petition your Honorable body to redress the aforesaid grievance.
