To the Honorable, the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in
Congress assembled,
The undersigned believing that the transportation of the Mail, the delivering of letters
&c on the first day of the Week to be a violation of the Christian Sabbath, opposed
to the rights of a numerous class of citizens, who consciencious^ly^ observe this day, injurious in its effects upon public morals and unsupported by
any plea of necessity or convenience, while it gives offence to the feelings of the
christian community her^e^by pray your honorable Body to redress the aforesaid grievance.
