To the Honourable the Senate and House of representatives of the United States in
congress assembled
The undersigned beleiving the transportation of the mail, the delivery of letters &c on the 1st day of the week to be a violation of the christain sabbath, opposed to the rights of a numerous class of citizens who conscientiously
observe that day, injurious in it’s effects upon public morals and unsupported by any plea of necessity or convenience
while it gives offence to the feelings of christain community
Hereby petition your honourable body to redress the aforesaid greivance
