To the Honourable The Senate and house of Representatives of the United States
The petition of the undersigned, inhabitants of the Town of Stratford and neighbou^r^hood in the County of Delaware in the state of Ohio respectfully Sheweth that notwithstanding
our government is intended to grant and give to all its subjects equal protection,
rights, and previleges, That they still labour under great inconvenience for want
of a post Office at the aforesaid Town of Stratford, it is eleven miles from Delaware
to Williamsville & a very thickly settled country and no post office between the two
places & as the office we ask for is situated at a convenient distance from each and
between the two places and immediately on the great thoroughfare between Columbus
& Lake Erie. Your petitioners forebear to enter into lengthy arguments in support
of their claim they will merely state that it is their right, and if your honourable
body will pass a law establishing said office they will be much benefited, And as
in duty bound &c
