To the Honorable the Senate & House of Representatives of the United States in Congress Assembled
The undersigned believing the transportation & opening of the Mial & the delivery of letters &c. on the first day of the week to be a violation of the Christian Sabbath: opposed to the rights of a numerous class of citizans, who conscientiously observe that day, Injurious in its Effects on public Morals, &. unsupported by any plea of necessity or. convenience. While it gives offence to the feelings of the Christian Community, hereby petition your honorable Body to redress the aforesaid grievance
