The undersigned, pupils of M^r W. J. Bingham’s Select School at the Oaks, Orange co. N.C. do most respectfully beg leave to solicit in their own behalf, (as the delicacy of their teacher forbids their signing the neighborhood petition, which they understand is going up to the Department at Washington) the establishment of a new post office at M^r H. M. Cave Strowd’s in view of the Academy, and on the road from our boarding houses to School.

We are in number about fifty, and most of us far from our homes. We suffer much in convenience in getting our letters to and from the nearest office, Clover Garden, and we think ourselves and our teachers pay nine tenths of the postage of the neighborhood. To us, it seems obviously just & right that the post office should be accommodated to the convenience of the postage-payers, and as we suppose this is the principle on which new offices are established, we confidently hope that this our petition will meet with your favorable regard.

We recommend M^r H. M. Cave Strowd as a very competent & suitable person for Post Master, as our teacher does not desire the office himself.
