To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress
Assembled.
The undersigned inhabitants of Sauk County in the State of Wisconsin, Respectfully
request your Hon. Body to establish a Mail Route, commencing at Dodgeville in the
County of Iowa. wis, and thence via Helena Williams Settlement, Harris Precinct, Prairie
Du Sac Post Office at Prairie Du Sac to the Town of Adams, the County Seat of Sauk
County, said proposed route being in the Counties of Iowa and Sauk in the State aforesaid,
And your petitioners respectfully represent that said route is highly necessary to
the public convenience for mail facilities, and would accom^m^odate several thousand inhabitants who are now virtually destitute of the advantages
the said route would afford, and also that the proceeds arising from postage on said
route would amply remunerate the government for all expenses of transportation of
the mail. And your petitioners would ever pray &c; &c.
