Sec.[Section] 1. Be it Enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly That Whenever any person shall desire to redeem any lands, or Town lots now or hereafter sold for taxes, and which are included within the Corporate limits of the City of Chicago, it shall be the duty of such person to pay to the person who purchased the said Lands, or Lots, or to the proper clerk not only the redemption money as now required by the Laws of this State, but also all such sums of money as such purchase may have paid for taxes on said lands or lots subsequently to his purchase, and interest thereon at the rate of ten per centum per annum, whether said taxes were levied by theState, County, or City, and if said redemption money shall be paid to any Clerk it shall be his duty immediately thereafter to pay the same over to such purchaser, no redemption shall take effect until such subsequent taxes are paid.
