It shall be the duty of the Commissioner of School Lands for Cook County to apportion the money received by him out of the State Treasury under the act of Feb.[February] 7. 1835, so as to give to the City of Chicago, the just proportion of the same which said City is entitled to according to the number of persons therein under twenty years of age,
as compared with the same class of persons in the whole county, taking the last census as the basis of the calculation; and upon such apportionment,
to pay over to the Treasurer of said City, or such other person as the Common Council thereof shall appoint to receive the
same, so much of said moneys as the said city may be entitled to.
2. Hereafter, the said Commissioner shall, in each year, make a like apportionment
of the money he may receive from the State Treasury as interest on the School Fund,
and pay over to said Treasurer of said City or other person appointed to receive the same, ^as soon as said commissioner shall receive the said money,^ such portion of said interest money as shall be allotted to said City, under said apportionment, without making any deduction therefrom for Commissions
or other
services.

3 Nothing in this act contained, shall authorize the appropriation of said money
by said City to any other purpose than the maintainance of public schools.
