An ACT authorizing Administrators to settle estates in particular cases.

2Probate court of new county to settle estates, when letters have been granted by old
county
Sec.[Section]1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That in all cases which have heretofore occurred, or which may hereafter occur,
when by the division of any county in this State, the administrator or administratrix to whom letters of administration may have been
granted by the probate court of such county, shall by such division be placed beyond
the limits of the county in which such letters may have been granted, then and in all such cases the probate court of such county shall be authorized to
proceed and settle the estate upon which letters of administration may have been so
granted, in the same manner as if no such division had occurred.

Powers of court.
Sec. 2. The probate court of any such county for the purpose of settling any such estate, shall have power to issue all proper and necessary writs and process to any county
in this State.

2On January 4, 1841, John Pearson introduced SB 85, originally titled “An act to enable Harriet Bradford, administratrix, to settle
the estate of William Bradford, deceased,” in the Illinois Senate. On January 14, the Senate amended the bill. On January 15, the Senate amended the
title by changing it to “An Act authorizing administrators to settle estates in particular
cases,” and then passed the bill. On February 11, the Illinois House of Representatives passed the bill. On February 17, the Illinois Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
