Trustees to collect taxes for 1840
Addit’nal[Additional] tax
Proviso.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the trustees of the town of Juliet, Will county, are authorized to collect the tax

levied for the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty, by placing the list or assessment roll in the hands of a constable who may collect
the tax as on execution, and in case the tax so levied in one thousand eight hundred
and forty, and collected in one thousand eight hundred aud forty-one is not sufficient
to pay all debts and liabilities against said town, then the said trustees may levy another tax, and collect as aforesaid, in one thousand
eight hundred and forty-one, an amount sufficient, and no more, to pay all such liabilities
against said town: Provided, The tax levied shall be on all taxable property, and not exceed one-fourth of one
percent.
Trustees to pay all debts
Sec. 2. The trustees aforesaid, shall, as soon as the money is collected, audit and pay all outstanding debts against the said town, preserving the vouchers of such debts amongst the books and papers belonging to
the town as a former corporation.
Statement of acts of trustees to be published
Sec. 3. The trustees shall, by the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and forty-one, make out an accurate statement from the beginning of the corporation, of all money received and paid out, now paid, and the amount paid for each item,
and when the same shall be so made out, they shall publish the account thereof for
at least one week in the Juliet Courier.
