1On December 2, 1840, Isaac Froman introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives. The House amended the resolution by striking out everything following the word “Resolved,” and inserting the following text in lieu thereof: “That a select committee be appointed to enquire into the expediency of reducing the fees and compensation of all officers under the laws of this State.” The House then passed the resolution as amended.
