Sec [Section]1 Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly. That the above recited act “To incorporate the Town of Shelbyville” Approved March 2 1839” is hereby repealed.2
Sec 2 The present Trustees of said Corporation shall hand over to the Clerk of the County Commissioners Court of said County, all books and papers of every description pertaining to their corporate acts, and the Clerk of the said Court shall carefully preserve the same in his office.
Sec 3 All suits commenced before any Justice of the Peace under the provisions of the above recited act, shall be prosecuted to final Judgment and execution as though this act had not passed, and all fines received, with all monies now held by any person under the provisions of said act, shall be paid into the County Treasury, for the use of said County.
This act shall be in force after its passage.

1On January 7, 1841, Owen Prentice in the House of Representatives presented the petition of citizens of Shelbyville, which the House referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. In response to this petition, Wickliffe Kitchell of the Committee on the Judiciary introduced HB 117 in the House on January 16. The House passed the bill on February 10. On February 13, the Senate indefinitely postponed further consideration.
