Strike out after the enacted clause & insert

Sec.[Section] That the Governor be & he is hereby authorised to appoint ^by & with the advice & consent of the Senate^ some competent person, whose duty it shall be examine to thorougholy examine the accounts, books, papers[,] & every thing else appertaining to the offices of the Canal Commissioners, Board of public Works ^&^ Fund Commissioners, and report to make detailed reports of such examinations to the said Governor, who is hereby authorised and required to cause the ^so much of the^ same to be published in the Newspaper ^as he may deem necessary.^

Sec. 2. The compensation of said the person so selected by the Governor shall be four ^three [...?] and a half^ dollars per day until his duties cease.

Sec 3. Said agent shall have authority to send for persons & papers if necessary to a faithful & correct discharge of his duties.
