“Said Second Auditor shall keep his office at the seat of Government. And he shall not employ any clerk or secretary at the expense of the state.

Strike out the words “said Account [...?] & “said accounting officers” & wh they occur & insert [...?][...?][...?]

Strike out the 1^st line of sec 17 to the word “at” & insert, “The second auditor shall always locate his offices at the seat of Government”

Amd[Amend] 18 section by inserting ^striking out^ after “Works” in 1^st line, to shall ^“and”^ in 2^nd line & insert “Board of Fund Commissioners[,] state House Commissioners[,] and agents to sell State Bonds for canal purposes; and of all other [?] of its [?] with the [?] Internal Improvement [?] state House, and of the several [?] Boards shall enter [?] to the organisation of said Boards & to appointment of said agents & officers

Strike out section 2 & insert,

“Then shall be elected by the General assembly of the State of Illinois at its present session and every regular session thereafter one competent person a citizen of this state to execute the duties required of him by this act, who shall be styled the “second Auditor,” and shall continue in office ^after the second election^ for two years and until his successor is elected and qualified. Then shall be elected likewise two at the same time ^first election for second Auditor^ & in the ^same^ manner two other competent persons, citizens of the state, who shall be styled “assistant Accountants,” who shall act with said second Auditor & have equal power with him, in auditing & settling the accounts of all officers & agents of the state as prescribed in the forgoing section, until a final settlement is made of the accounts of all such agents & officers, & when so soon as such examination & auditing is complete then said Assistant accountants shall cease to [...?] no longer act^cease to act & go out of office^, and all the duties required by this act ^to be^ [?] ^performed by the second Auditor & Assistant accountants [?] ^ thereafter be performed by the second Auditor.
