Resolved. ^Further^ That the President of the United States be requested to inform this House of Representatives how much “public land” the Goverment of the United States has acquired under the 5th Article of the Treaty, concluded and signed on the 2d day of February 1848 between the United States of America and the Mexican Republic which is free from and not included within Grants heretofore made by the Governments of Spain and Mexico, and also how much of such “Public land” is within the boundaries of Texas, as defined by the Resolution ^Act^ of the Congress of the Republic of Texas of the 19th day of December 1836, and also what is the estimated value of such Public Land.
Resolved further, that the President be requested to lay before this House of Representatives, copies of all such official letters, reports or other communications as contain any information of the quantity

value or location of the “public lands” acquired under the said section of the treaty, the title of which is in the Government of the United States, or which contain the evidence, or any part thereof, that the “extensive and valuable territories ceded by Mexico to the United States constitute indemnity for the past”
