Resolved, That the President be requested to communicate to this House the best and most [...?] ^reliable^ information in his possession relating to the proper limits and boundaries of New Mexico and California ^with the population of each respectively^; and particularly ^[...?] copies^ copiys of the maps referred to in the late treaty between Mexico and the United States.
Resolved, Further that the President be also requested to inform this House whether there are not now civil Governments organized in New Mexico & California? And if so what is ^are^ their form and character? By whom and when were they instituted? And by what authority? By whom and in what way are they maintained and supported? And particularly that he inform this House whether the Governor[...?] and other officers appointed in New Mexico by Genl Kearney in 1846 and the Governor and other officers appointed by Com. Stockton in California during the same year, still hold the appointments they conferred on them; and whether the salaries affixed to those ^their^ offices have been paid out of the Treasury of the United States? and if so by what authority of law.

Resolved further, That the President be requested to inform this House whether there have been any ^trial or^ trials & [convictions?] for Treason against of any ^person or^ persons of Treason against the United states in that part of New Mexico lying east of the Rio Grande since the same has been in the occupancy of our Army? And if so before what tribunal such trials were had, whether civil or military And by what authority of law such tribunal or tribunals were established. And that he furnish this House with a copy of all the proceedings in such case or cases.
