Resolved, That the President be requested to inform this House, whether Major General Winfield Scott, commander in chief of the US forces in Mexico, has been arrested or suspended from command; and if suspended from duty, and the exercise of his responsible functions, that the President be further requested to inform this House whether such suspension was occasioned by any breach of orders, violation, or neglect of duty, or for powers assumed by said Commander in conducting the war with Mexico; and if so, to state the nature of such breach of orders, violation, or neglect of duty, or assumption of power ^as^ he stands charged with, or what other high military offence has been imputed to the said Commander in Chief, & which in the opinion of the Prest. of the US. rendered it necessary, or expedient, in1 such a conjuncture of affairs, in time of active operations, in the heart of the enemy’s country, after a campaign among the most brilliant & successful recorded on the page of history, to deprive the Republic of the eminent, & invaluable services of Major General Scott, to whom the Representatives of the people have unanimously voted their thanks with a medal “as a testimony of the high sense entertained by

2nd Resolved That the President be requested, to cause to be furnished to this House, a copy of the charges and specifications (if any) which have been filed against brevet Major General Worth, by Major General Scott, & by him transmitted to the Secretary of War, for trial, by general Court Martial, and that the President be further requested, to inform this House, whether he has, disallowed the charges preferred by the Commander in Chief against a subordinate officer under his command, or whether he has appointed a general Court Martial for the trial of the said ^brevet^ Major General Worth, in accordance with the provisions & requirements of the law which in such cases declare, “That whenever a general officer commanding an2 department army, or a Colonel commanding a department, shall be the accuser or prosecutor of any offence of the army, the general Court Martial for the trial of such officer shall be appointed by the President of the US” and if not, what good reason existed, for disregarding the charges of Major General Scott the Superior vs brevet Major General Worth, the inferior officer, while Major Gen Scott is arrested ^arrested^ suspended from Command & brought before a Court of Enquiry in Mexico upon the charges prefered by said brevet Major Gen Worth against his commander
