Resolved that the President of the United States be requested to communicate to this
House, ^if not incompatable with the public interests^ the specific object for which he applied to the last Congress for an appropriation
of three millions of dollars; & the [grounds?] on which he gave the assurance, that such an appropriation would ^be the means of securing a speedy^ enable him to conclude Peace with Mexico; and that he also state, whether any effort or [propriation?] has been made, by the Executive, or its agent or agents, for the [dispertion?] of said fund or any part there of; or whether such agent or agents have been authorized
to make [pesperitions?], to the Mexican authorities, or any Mexican officers civil or Military, or to any
citizen or citizens of Mexico for the [disposition?] of the whole or any part thereof, and that he be requested to furnish all instructions,
& correspondence, together with all the facts & circumstances relating thereto; and
if no [disposition?] has been made, or attempted to be made of said fund, for the purpose of securing
peace as promised, to state his reasons therefor.
