To the Hon The Senate & house o Representatives of the United State.
The undersigned Residents upon the Mail route petitioned for below (in the Territory of Wisconsin) would respectfully request your honourable body to grant & Establish a Mail Route from Summit in Waukeesha County Via Ocenemowoc Neosho . Iron Works, & Mayville to Fon du Lac.
Your petitioners would respectfully represent that this Mail route will be upon a major & much travelled road. That if this route is established the expense of supplying the Country that it passes through will be much lessened. That it will be upon a route that is thickly settled & [through?] a prosperous portion portion of our New Territory, that it will pass through the recently discovered Mines of Iron Ore in the County of Dodge and that at each of the points mentioned flourishing Villages are springing up. & it will further be the means of supplying a country some portions of which are now destitute of mail facilities & that it is a direct & convenient route from Summit to Fon du Lac & that while it will accomodate a large & Inteligent number of citizens it will add to the revenue of the Department all of which is respectfully submitted
And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray &c
