To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives in Congress Assembled:
We, the undersigned citizens of Port Washington, respectfully represent, that the rapidly increasing settlement of the county on the route west from this to Beaver Dam, in Dodge County, calls for increased mail facilities, that there is now no mail route west from the Lake in this county, and that in many instances the people ^are^ at the inconvenience and expense of obtaining their mail matter at this office, or neighboring offices at a distance of from ten to twenty miles. A route from this point west to Beaver Dam would pass through several very flourishing villages, and a country ^which^ has more than doubled its population during the past year, and must very soon be densely populated.
We therefore pray your honorable body to establish a new mail route from Port Washington, Washington Co. Wisconsin, to Beaver Dam; Dodge Co, Wis., and your petitioners, will ever pray.
