To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress Assembled,
The undersigned inhabitants of the Territory of Wisconsin respectfully ask of Your honorable body the Establishment by law law of a mail route from Darien in the County of Walworth, to Whitewater in the Same County, to touch at the following points to wit: The former Site of the Post Office of Fairfield, in the town of Darien, Richmond, Keeches Corners, then to Whitewater, the whole distance about twenty miles.
Your petitioners respectfully represent, as the reasons for this Application, that the inhabitants of the district formerly accomodated by the Tairfield Post Office, (which was removed in 1843 about three miles in consequence of the death of the incumbent Post Master, and which it is proposed to renew) are obliged to go to Darien, a distance of five miles to receive all their mail matter,
That the inhabitants of in the neighborhood of Keeches Corners, at which the establishment of a Post Office will be asked for, are Compelled to go to Whitewater, a distance of over six miles for their mail. That there is a large district of Country surrounding each of the places above dessignated, thickly populated, and interested in the proposed arrangement, That there is now no route established touching either of them, and that in the opinion of Your petitioners the proposed route will be the best and most practicable one for affording them the desired accommodation
