To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives of the united States in Congress assembled
The undersigned inhabitants of the Territory of Wisconsin respectfully ask of your honorable body the establishment by law of a mail route from Darien in the County of Walworth to Whitewater in the same County (a distance of about twenty miles) to touch at the following Points; to Wit; the former site of the Post Office of Fairfield in the town of Darien, Richmond, Keeches Corners, then to Whitewater
Your petitioners respectfully represent as the reasons for their application that the inhabitants of the district formerly accommodated by the Fairfield Post office (which was removed in 1843 about three miles in consquence of the death of the incumbent Pos^t^ master and which it is proposed to renew) are obliged to go to Darien a distance of five miles to receive all their mail matter
That the inhabitants in the neighborhood of Keeches Corners (at which the establishment of a Post Office will be asked for) are compelled to go to Whitewater a distance of over Six miles for their mail, That there1 is ^a^ large district of Country surrounding each of the places above designated thickly populated and interested in the proposed arrangement that there is now no route established touching either of them and that in the opinion of your petitioners the proposed route will be the best and most practicable one for affording them the desired accommodation
