Resolved that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency
of amending the Act of April 30th 1790 entitled “an Act for the punishment of certain
crimes against the United States” so as to provide more effectually for the punishment
of depredations on the Mail of the United States and of extending the limitation for the commencement of indictments or informations
beyond the period of two years or of abolishing the same altogether—and that the letter
of James Hutcheson a Post Master in Georgia refering to that subject together with
a letter of the Post Master General to the Chairman of the Committee on Post offices
and Post Roads, of the 7th Jany last, be refered with this resolution to the said Committee on the Judiciary.
