Resolved, That the Committee on Canals and Canal Lands be instructed to enquire into the expediency
of stopping all proceedings on the canal for the present, and that they report by
bill or otherwise.
1John Logan introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives on December 2, 1840, and the House adopted it. The Committee on Canals and Canal
Lands, on which sat Abraham Lincoln, did not take up the resolution.
