Resolved by the House of Representatives, That a select committee be appointed to prepare and report rules for the government
of this House during the present session of the General Assembly.
1Richard Murphy introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives on November 24, 1840, and the House adopted it. The House appointed Abraham Lincoln and six other representatives to the committee. On November 26, the select committee
issued a report, recommending that the House adopt the rules of the 11th General Assembly with amendments.
The House concurred with this report.
