Resolved, That the Governor be requested to furnish this Legislature with all the information he may possess, relative to the Michigan Canal expenditures for the last year, including the salaries of the respective Commissioners.
1On December 14, 1835, Nelson W. Nunnally introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives. On December 16, Governor Joseph Duncan responded with the information that since the commissioners had been unable to obtain
a loan for the construction of the canal in 1835, he had not issued commissioners to them, nor had any salary been paid to
them. The commissioners affected by this were Edward Coles, Gurdon S. Hubbard, Joel Manning, William Linn, and William B. Archer.
