         Resolved, That the Governor of the State be requested to furnish this House with such information as he may possess relative to the expenditures of money upon
               the Illinois and Michigan canal; also the progress of the work, together with such other and particular information
               as he may deem proper in relation to said work.
            
         1On December 6, 1838, John A. Logan introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives. The House received a reply from Governor Thomas  Carlin on January 1, 1839, along with a copy of the report, for which the House ordered
                  the printing of 5,000 copies.
