This Indenture, Made and Entered into this 28th day of September A.D. 1837, Between Samuel Neel Sen^r and Gerusha his wife of the County of Sangamon and State of Illinois of the First part, and Archer G. Herndon of the county and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth, that the Said party of the first part, for, And in consideration of the Sum of one thousand Dollars, in hand paid by the Said party of the Second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and Sold, and by these presents, do grant, bargain and Sell, unto the Said party of the Second part, his Heirs and assigns, a Certain Tract of Land Situate, lying and being in the County and State aforesaid, Known and designated as follows to wit: The West half of the South East quarter of Section Number Twenty four in Township Number Sixteen North of Range number Six West of the third principal Meridian

“To have and to hold the aforesaid Tract or parcel of Land, together with all and Singular the privileges and appurtenances, thereunto belonging, or in anywise appertaining, to the only Proper use and benefit of him the Said party of the Second part, his heirs and assigns forever. And the Said party of the first part, for their heirs, Executors and administrators, do covenant to and with the Said party of the Second part, that they are lawfully Seized

Have full right to convey and will forever warrant and Defend the said Tract of Land from the claim of them the Said party of the first part, their heirs and assigns, and against the claim or claims of any other person whomsoever.
