Resolved, That the committee on Finance be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so amending the license law as to place all articles, manufactured in this State, upon an equality, so far as the sale of the same is concerned; and that they be requested to report by bill or otherwise.
1Robert Smith introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives on February 20, 1839, and the House adopted it. On February 25, 1840, the Committee on Finance, on which sat Abraham Lincoln, reported back the resolution without a report or bill, and the House discharged it from further consideration.
