Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring herein, That the two Houses will meet in the Hall of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, the 28th inst. at 7 o’clock, P.M., and proceed to the election of a Treasurer of the Board of Canal Commissioners.
1Abraham Lincoln introduced this resolution in the House of Representatives on January 27, 1840, and the House adopted it. The House reported the resolution’s adoption to the Senate, but the Senate took no action. On January 31, the Senate adopting its own resolution setting February 1 as the date of the election for the treasurer. The Senate resolution also called for the election of three persons to revise the laws of the state, one fund commissioner, and three commissioners of public works. On February 1, the House concurred in the Senate resolution.
