The American House was a two-story hotel in Carlinville, Illinois, owned and run by H. H. Walker. Formerly known as the Macoupin House, then as the Lafayette House, the American House was remodeled in 1856 and offered a livery stable for guests as well as complimentary carriage rides to and from the Carlinville train depot.
